How is Fat Transfer done?
Fat Transfer, also known as autologous fat transplantation or micro-lipoinjection, involves using a patient's own fat to enhance features, improve contour, and correct defects. With fat transfer, the patient's own fat cells are used; this eliminates the risk of an allergic reaction because the fat cells are from the patient's own body.
How is Fat Transfer done?
First of all, the areas involved; both the area where the fat is being taken from and the area where the fat is being injected are
anesthetized
with a local anesthetic. Then, the fat is removed from an area of the body where the fat is tightly packed, like the thigh or the abdomen. Once the fat is removed, the fat is processed to remove excess fluids and finally the fat is inserted under the skin beneath the wrinkle.
What are the Benefits of Fat Transfer?
- Fat Transfer to the face can last as long as three years.
- There is no chance of an allergic reaction with Fat Transfer.
- When combined with another procedure, Fat Transfer can be very cost effective.
